Subsurface Geotechnical Exploration

HJA maintains a fleet of company owned and operated truck, track, and ATV mounted drilling rigs capable of soil sampling and rock coring the various geological formations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, North Central Texas area, and adjacent states.

HJA Performs

  • Hollow stem auger and wash rotary drilling
  • Clay soil sampling using 3" diameter Shelby tubes, 3" to 6" Denison barrels, and Split-Spoons
  • Sampling of materials using a California sampler
  • Coring of rock formations to depths of 150 feet or more
  • Installation of piezometers for ground water studies
  • Packer testing for permeability of soil and rock formations
  • Field vane shear tests
  • Field plate load testing for modulus of subgrade reaction
